A KNOCK OUT PUNCH FOR PRISON PRIVATIZATION


Senate Bill 2038, the prison privatization bill, would have devastated small communities and working families’ economic stability and safety.  However , it received a ‘knock out’ punch that will prevent tax dollars from being funneled to special interests that own corporate prisons, ie, Corrections Corporation of America and GEO Group.

 

The Florida Senate voted 21-19 against privatizing prisons in 18 South Florida counties today, ending the most contentious debate of the 2012 session.   Follow the link to read more:
