Having a tough time coming out of pocket for exorbitant mark-ups on Florida Dept. of Corrections Canteen food and other items that inmates, or more correctly their families, are sacrificing to purchase? This is no minimal markup, this is avid profiteering. You be the Judge!
Compare to Winn Dixie, Aldi, Save A Lot, Walmart and other local supermarkets. Be aware that the $5 and $6 entrees are processed, packaged (and full of sodium). Did you know that Ramon Pride soups sell for about $.10 apiece elsewhere? And the Brownie batteries that are causing permanent damage to MP3 players are not Alkaline as required for these electronics. Even the generic tea bag at $.04 is equivalent to those selling around a penny apiece in boxes of 100. And the list goes on. Federal controls over postage is the saving grace for those who purchase stamps.
If FDOC chooses not to price match, why not allow families to send care packages and cut out the middle man altogether? Now let me guess!
