Officer Sgt. Ruben Thomas, 24 yrs old, was stabbed in the neck by Inmate Richard Franklin, 37 yrs old, late Sunday night, March 18, 2012 at Columbia Correctional Institution Annex, Lake City, Florida. Franklin was convicted of first degree murder in 1995 and is currently serving a life sentence. He had a prior conviction of battery on a law enforcement officer.
