MARISSA ALEXANDER NOW

Wondering what Marissa Alexander is doing NOW?  She’s fighting and she’s only just begun.

Introducing: The Marissa Alexander Justice Project.
Why I created this organization: I am the Lord’s servant. May your word to me be fulfilled…..

The Mission of the MAJP is to provide services that promote the collaboration of broader movements of social justice and criminal reform as well as the decriminalization of domestic violence victims.  MAJP will facilitate positive, realistic, working relationships with all aspects of the legal community to improve the involvement of the criminal justice system and the impact on our society.

Goals & Priorities of the MAJP:
To:
Prioritize the Domestic Violence Mission
Prevent criminalization of victims
Oppose Mass incarceration
Support the Restoration of Civil Rights
Reinstate Parole
Establish first time offender programs
Eliminate the school to prison pipeline
Establish alternatives to suspension and expulsion
Be an influential presence in Court proceedings
Reform Mandatory Minimums
Reveal and change sentencing disparities
Lead Communities toward self improvement

The strategic plan of the MAJP is to connect with broad based movements for social justice and human rights in the United States and globally. We will establish think tanks to include opposing perspectives. These groups will consist of victims, offenders, policymakers and subject matter experts and the task at hand will be to facilitate and examine the duty and accountability of actionable and measurable efforts while collaborating with government and local state agencies to improve our communities.

This is an open forum.  Get involved and join us in an open dialogue.
